How do I register?
The Newark School of the Arts now offers two convenient ways to register. We recommend that you start by setting up your family account where you will be able to manage your classes, discounts/financial aid, payments and credit cards on file. You can choose to Pay in full at the time of registration and receive a $25 discount toward your tuition, or choose a payment plan that is convenient for you. Just choose from the options below to begin your registration. IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID OR ICAN, YOU MUST SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION AND REQUIRED PAPERWORK TO THE REGISTRAR PRIOR TO REGISTRATION. Once approved for financial aid, you will receive a one-time discount code to apply toward your registration on the checkout/payments page. When you registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email. Your class links will be emailed to the email on file.
You can select your classes, add registration fee, Pay in full and receive $25.00 off your tuition for the semester. NEW STUDENTS MUST ADD $65 Registration fee. For orders with a prior balance, the payment will be applied to your unpaid balance.

Choosing a payment plan will allow you to pay your bill with 4 equal installments for each semester. We recommend that you set up your student account (each student must have individual account) where you will be able to manage your classes, discounts/financial aid, payments and credit cards on file. Just set it and forget it. We do all the work for you. You only pay the first payment at the time of registration and we automatically bill your card each month for the remaining payments. You can check when your next payment is due by logging into your account. Credit card must be on file. A $25 penalty fee will apply for declined credit card payments. NOTE: Please be aware that if you register and have a previous past-due balance, the tuition will automatically be applied toward your past due balance.

MAKE-UP POLICY
Students are expected to attend all registered classes throughout the school year. Teachers are expected to make up lessons they miss (theory, solfege, orff, and ensemble excluded). If a student is absent from a lesson, they forfeit that lesson and are not entitled to a make-up or refund. If the student is absent more than three (3) times without notice, the school reserves the right to withdraw the student from classes and give the lesson time away to another student. If the student is withdrawn due to non-attendance, the family must contact the registrar to cancel the semester registration or they will be responsible for the balance left for the rest of the semester.
FINANCIAL AID
Limited financial assistance is available for students who qualify under school guidelines on a first come first served basis. If you are unable to pay your tuition in full, you may apply for financial assistance. To qualify for financial aid, applicant must submit proof of household income including: 1040 (2020) tax return, W2 or 1099 (2020), current pay stub (2021), Public assistance, Unemployment Insurance, Social Security Income, and scholarship statements. Financial aid applications are available in our offices, or may be downloaded HERE. Tuition must be paid by the due date for financial aid to remain in effect.
Private Music Lesson Tuition: $ 459.00 (25% discount)
Group Classes Tuition: $ 228.75 (25% discount)
I.C.A.N. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION (Initiative for Children’s Arts in Newark)
For the 9th year, the Newark School of the Arts (NSA) is providing an exclusive arts program for Newark Public, Private School students and Newark residents. NSA received funding from the Aviation Development Council and the Rivendell Foundation to provide discounted rates for new registrants for their first semester. Parents/Guardians are required to complete the NSA application form, as well as the supplemental ICAN registration form (available on-line, or at our office) to be eligible for these deeply discounted rates for private lessons in music, or group lessons in drama, dance and visual arts.
Private Music Lessons $367.20 (40% discount)
Group Classes $183.00 (40% discount)
SPECIAL NEEDS/IEP
In order to maintain accessibility, special needs students with an Individual Education Program (IEP) are integrated into our programs. Students with IEP/special needs can register for one subsidized class each year. Subsidy is provided thanks through funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. A $65.00 REGISTRATION FEE APPLIES TO ALL REGISTRATIONS. Additional classes (second or third) will be full price.
OPPORTUNITIES/SCHOLARSHIPS
There will be opportunities for each student to perform, exhibit and attend school events. Scholarship auditions are held once a year and take place May. Students can qualify after being enrolled for two consecutive semesters prior to audition and must be currently enrolled and recommended by their teacher. Merit scholarships award students with an extra 15 minutes of private lesson time at no cost. For more scholarship information and audition dates, contact the registrar’s office. Tuition must be paid by the due date for scholarships to remain in effect. NOTE: There will be no auditions 2020-21 school year.
Special Scholarships are available for visually and cognitively impaired students (Students 18 and over must apply). For more information please call the registrar’s office.
PUBLICITY/MARKETING
Newark School of the Arts uses student photos and video footage for marketing and publicity purposes, both electronically and in print. Please read the policies on you application and that your registration verifies your permission to use your image for any purpose through any medium and in all media, and your agreement to release NSA, its sponsors and anyone working on their behalf, from any liability without limitation and in perpetuity. If you do not want NSA to use your image, you must check the appropriate box on your application.

It is the policy of the School that in matters concerning the recruitment, selection, and admission of students, no person shall be discriminated against for reasons of race, creed, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, and political affiliation, physical or socio-economic disadvantages. The school welcomes participation by individuals with disabilities. In so far as possible, NSA will provide accommodations for individuals with disabilities. The building is wheelchair accessible. Upon request, course information will be provided in large print or alternative formats. Special accommodations for events can be made with two weeks notice.

Your registration fee is good for the whole family in your household.
Registration fees apply for the whole year ( Fall, Spring and Summer semesters). i.e. If you register for a class in fall, there is no registration fee for the spring or summer if you choose to take more classes.
Classes are available for people of ALL ages.
You can register for any class at any time during the semester.
Scholarship programs and Financial Aid are available.
Individuals with certified disabilities are eligible for a 100% discount on tuition for 1 course per semester. students are responsible for registration fee.
Current Discounts/Promotions
When a student (1) registers for a 2nd group class they receive a 15% discount on their second class, 3rd group class 25%.
